Strike! Isn't that what it's called when you miss all the pins?

Friday Charlie and I did our hill sprints, he was very proud of how I did which is good cause I was dead lmao. Worst part is it was so windy and cold so when we'd take a quick rest between runs my sweat soaked shirt would freeze lol. No karaoke last night so we just hung out at home and watched some episodes of Bones on Netflix.

Today or I should say tonight Charlie and I went bowling on base. We had a blast, did it for just over an hour. Probably could have played longer but Charlie's fingers were starting to kill him (he bowls left handed and they only had right handed balls so after 5 rounds he was beginning to hurt, would soak his hand on his drink between rounds poor guy). I'm not a very good bowler, one of my "pride" moments was bowling at a friend's birthday party years ago, with bumpers I scored an 11, and yes I was trying lol. But hey her family loves me and now it's a great story to bring up. But I've started to improve some, my average score now is about a 60-65. Today I was super excited cause for the first time ever I beat Charlie!! It was the last game and he was dying but a win is a win!! I jumped around yelling, it was great!

No plans for tomorrow, laundry and relaxing

Sore muscles = one step closer

Yesterday Charlie and I went running in a new direction and met this damn hill, which wiped me out. Then today we went to the gym and cycled for 3o mins. Tomorrow he wants to do hill sprints cause the hill killed me but the way my legs feel he's going to have to do some good pushing to get me out there lol, I hurt. Wish I was in Florida so I could soak in my parent's hot tub. Maybe I'll go run a hot bath, next best thing to a hot tub.

Short blog tonight but nothing really new to say. I may have sore muscles but it gives me the satisfaction knowing I'm doing something and am one step closer to my goals =)

Ready, Set, Go!!

Nothing gets you more pumped to prepare for a race than actually registering. It's that point that makes you go "Woohoo let's get started" followed by "OMG I can't believe I really signed up, I think I'm going to be sick" and finally back to "alright don't let the butterflies get you, you can do this. Woohoo let's get started" At least that's how I react after every race I've ever signed up for.

Well the cycle has started again cause I'm officially signed up for the Irish Sprint 10K in March and the Gender Defender 5K in August. I think what really gave me butterflies was 1) I've never ran more than a 5K in my entire life so stepping up to the next level makes me nervous even though I know I can do it. And 2) by finishing the Irish Sprint you get a "golden ticket" that guarantees you a spot in the Marine Corps Marathon in October. As I said before at this point 3.1 miles is the most I've ever ran and here I am seriously considering signing up for a full blown 26.2 mile marathon, makes me excited and sick to my stomach all at the same time. Once I get the "golden ticket" I have until March 31st to actually register for the marathon and you can bet there will be a post here when/if I do. I know most of my anxiety about it is just in my head and I can overcome it, so we'll see what happens when that point comes.

But enough of that later, I have a 10K to train for!! Woohoo!!! I'm very lucky in the fact that I have a husband who loves to run and will help me train for any and all goals I ever want to take on. With him alone I know I can succeed in anything I put my mind toward. However, I also have a secret weapon in my training arsenal: Jedi Master Yoda!
(his feet clip to the front but I let them dangle for the picture)
I saw this backpack online last year and saved up the money so I could buy him when we went to Disney a few weeks ago. I love him cause it makes me feel like Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back, but without all those backflips lmao. So he's going to be my training buddy as I run and I'm sure I'll get many looks/stares but when have I ever been one to care about stares lol. Heck more than likely it'll just end up like when I wore him around Disney and everyone wanted to know where they could get one lol.

So there we have it, I'm super excited for this year, I told you 2012 was going to kick ass! BTW I have a few more race ideas already in mind for this year but I'll talk more about them later

Ready, Set, Go!!

Oh My Snow!

Friday Charlie and I went to the gym and ran on the treadmill. We couldn't get ones next to each other for him to train us so he just told me to do 20 mins of whatever. So I did a 5 min warmup followed by 20 mins of 2 min running - 1 min walking, it was good.

Then we went to the VFW to hang out with friends. We go almost every Friday and we always have a blast. I don't normally sing but Kat asked me to so I sang one song, but otherwise I enjoy watching everyone else get up there. Here's a picture taken from our table of Charlie singing
Kat dancing crazy lol
Here's Kacey singing her heart out

While we were there it started to snow!! I was not happy cause that meant I had to drive home in it, first time for me. I did fine, went about 8-10 under the speed limit but I didn't care I was going to be safe on those icy roads. Besides if anyone was upset all they needed to do was see the license plate: FLORIDA! lol Here's some snow pics
Leaving the VFW
Our other car when we got home
The yard
And Lucy having to go in it to go potty, she was not very happy about it, my poor Hawaii puppy

Today the snow/sleet had stopped but it was so cold the ice never melted from the night so the ground/car is still covered. Didn't do much today but hang out and relax. No plans for tomorrow either, guess we'll see if we do anything or not. Hopefully the sun warms up and this damn ice starts melting.

You Got Mail

Yesterday I went to the gym with Charlie when he got off work. We did intervals on the bikes, peddling fast for 2 mins then taking a min break, did this for around 30 mins. My legs were jello afterwards, haven't ridden a bike since probably last June so different muscles were being used again.

Got our mail started back up again, when I put in the hold notice at the post office I couldn't remember which day we'd be back from vacation, so I just put the 20th cause I knew for certain we'd be here then. Normally we get very little mail so this is a lot for us lol, course most of it was junk or magazines lol.
Not sure if we're going to try to hit the gym when he gets off tonight or not, will depend on what time that ends up being since we'll be meeting friends at the VFW tonight. Under a winter weather advisory tonight so we could possible see some snow/ice when we head home. I hope not lol

I'm Ready!

I've been meaning to write a blog since the new year started but with being on vacation I just never got around to it. But the vacation is now over and it's time to get back into the real world. Charlie's at work and I've been working on unpacking, laundry, cleaning house, etc and figured it was a good time to stop and write.

I had a wonderful time in Florida. First off it was warm and I was in heaven, even the cold days were nothing compared to Virginia. I told Charlie I wasn't going back with him that I'd see him in the spring lol, I hate the cold. Heck it even snowed where we lived while we were gone, which was fine by me, get it all out of the way so I don't have to endure it lol. Spring is still a long way off but I'm keeping my fingers crossed winter sticks with this mild pattern we've been having for the most part (till I just checked the weather and we could have flurries tonight, ugh!!).

The main reason we went home was for the races in Disney (a 5K on Friday, a half on Saturday, and a Marathon on Sunday).
I only did the 5K but Charlie did all three. We had a wonderful time and yes he survived them all lol. The 5K race ran through Epcot, it was really fun.
Along the route they had Disney characters you could stop and take pictures with but the lines were long so I just took pictures of other people's families as we ran by; like a photobomb but in reverse lol.
We did get to talk to Santa for a bit as he passed us, now we know what he does during the offseason lol.

Unfortunately because most of our time was spent in Orlando we didn't have much time for seeing family & friends. But they understood (or at least acted like they did) and we did the best we could to see everyone. That's just one of the problems with having only a small amount of time and lots of people to see who all work. Still it was wonderful seeing those we did and maybe next time we'll get to see those we missed (and no we have no idea when the next trip home will be besides January 2013).

2012 is starting out to be a great year: I got to see my family, my sister, friends from home, friend from Hawaii, run a race and go to Disney World; not bad for only being a few weeks into the year. I think this year is going to be a kick ass one, and I have every intention of making sure that becomes true. As with the start of every new year it's time to list my resolutions!
My goals include:
*~* Going back to school so I can finish my degree
*~* Learn to cook better
*~* Work on my self esteem/loving me
*~* Run more races!!
*~* Be inspiring
*~* Take up some kind of karate/martial arts class
*~* Blog more!
That's about it, I'm sure I can come up with a few more goals as the year progresses but it's a good starting place. This year I decided to not make a weight loss goal, instead I'm going to focus more on running. Weight loss is a side effect of getting in shape, and even if it doesn't happen as long as I'm in shape to run more than I'll be extremely happy. I saw this t-shirt in Disney and thought it was perfect for me (I didn't buy it cause I couldn't bring myself to spend that much on a shirt, so I took a picture instead lol)

I have a few races in mind that I'm going to sign up for this year, from a few 5Ks to a huge challenge: the Marine Corps Marathon in October. So I have 10 months to work on being able to run 26.2 miles in at least a 14 min/mile pace, looks like I have my work cut out for me. Also I want to sign up for the Goofy race & a half challenge at Disney in 2013 like Charlie did this year. Should keep me motivated =) I'll be happier when the weather warms up so I can run outside instead of on a treadmill (I mean yes I can do it outside now too but I'd rather be inside where it's warmer lol).

That's about everything that's been going on with me. I'm going to try to blog more cause it holds me more accountable, plus I really do enjoy writing and haven't done much of it recently.

January 2012 5K, can't wait to see 2013's 5K picture, I'm ready!
